GoalDevelop a virtual gallery that educates audiences on the rich history of Mesoamerican culture. Design an intuitive, user-friendly interface that allows users to explore an Aztec temple while learning about its cultural significance.
TaskUsing a combination of 3D software and the Adobe Creative applications, create a temple that has an interface that allows for users to maneuver using a wayfinder interface, but also a mode where the user can navigate freely.
“Explore the Meso-American temple with many secrets.”
Process
Using Rhino 3D, I designed a multi-level temple with three distinct floors, each telling a different story. I then created detailed assets and textures in Blender and Substance Painter to evoke the feeling of a Mesoamerican temple. The axolotl served as a central symbol, highlighting the significance of animals in Aztec culture. Once the modeling was complete, I exported all assets as FBX files and brought them into Unreal Engine. There, I built an immersive environment where users could freely explore every corner of the temple. For the interactive gallery experience, I drew inspiration from VR navigation and museum wayfinding systems, focusing on how to guide users intuitively through the virtual space.ResultsThe Lost Teotihuacan Temple is an immersive virtual experience designed using both Adobe software and 3D software, offering users the ability to explore an ancient temple from the comfort of their own homes. This temple serves as a gallery that provides a history of the Meso-American Culture while showcasing many unique artworks. Featuring photorealistic rendering, lighting, and high-fidelity textures, the environment captures the beauty of Teotihuacan.
