Enunciation of Music is a book about music artist and their artistry conveyed in a book. The book dives into what makes the artist influential in their respective field. Using Typography as the main tool to convey how their sound is distinct to other artists.Goal Create a book that shows the artistry of a select group of artist and create a book that captures their sound.






TaskUsing select songs and lyrics, create a design that will show the artist’ cadence, flow, sound, voice inflections, and other elements that show how they stand out. On one spread, explain how the imminent artist has changed the sound of their respective field, while the other spread shows what their sound would look like on a 2D surface.

ProcessUsing typography as the main way to communicate the artistry’s sound, I explored different ways that typography can be expressed in order to get a message across. Looking at great typographers like David Carson, Warren Lehrer, and Sam Winston, I looked at how they were able to communicate their message through typography. While doing this research, I discovered different methods of typography like fracturing, deconstruction, destruction, and separation. With every artist, I selected the style that best showcased their abilities and created a design that encompasses who they are.






ResultsEnunciation of Music is a celebration of diverse musical artistry, where each artist’s unique style takes center stage throughout the book. Equal emphasis is given to every musician, with thoughtfully crafted typography that echoes their distinct identity. Each section is meticulously designed to reveal the artist’s story while showcasing their aesthetic through typographic expression. The layout balances individuality with cohesion, maintaining a consistent design language throughout the book. The challenge lay in harmonizing personal narratives with a unified visual identity, an accomplishment that brings each artist’s essence to life without losing the book’s layout and stylistic choices.ABA Layout
Finding the best layout for the book was my first step in my process of the book. I began by experimenting with using the modern and traditional grid and playing with different ways to align the body text and main headline. After careful thought I wanted to use two grids, one traditional and a modern grid, so that the content can be refreshing and the audience would stay engaged.
